How To Make St. Patrick’s Day Jewelry
On St. Patrick’s Day, many people get in the spirit by wearing shamrock jewelry. These accessories are more fun when you make them yourself. The entire family can get involved in these projects, making attractive jewelry that shows their Irish side. Adults can wear the jewelry to work and kids will love showing off their creations at school.
For a Shamrock Corsage, you will need:
• Silk flower featuring leaves
• 2 green pipe cleaners
• Green construction paper, felt, fabric, or wallpaper sample
• Jewelry craft pin
• Green bead
• Craft glue or low temperature glue gun and glue sticks
• Scissors
Step 1: Cut the two pipe cleaners in half. Bend each of three pieces into a heart shape, allowing 1 inch for a shamrock stem. Discard the fourth piece.
Step 2: Place a bead of the glue all around the back of each heart. Press the paper, felt, fabric, or wallpaper onto the glue and allow this to dry.
Step 3: Use the scissors to trim the material close to the hearts.
Step 4: Twist the hearts together at their stems and shape them into a three-leaf shamrock.
Step 5: Disassemble the silk flower. Glue the leaves behind the shamrock material. Glue the petals to the center of the shamrock, keeping them together in a flower shape. Glue the bead to the center of the flower. Let dry.
Step 6: Glue the craft pin to the back of the material. Allow glue to dry before wearing.
For Shamrock Body Art, you will need:
• Crystal rhinestones
• Shamrock gemstone
• Body art adhesive
Step 1: Peel the backing from the sheet of body art adhesive. One by one, press the shamrock gemstone and rhinestones onto the adhesive sheet, transferring glue to the back of each stone.
Step 2: Determine the desired location on the body and firmly press the gems and stones onto the skin. These can be repositioned and removed as desired.
