1 cup butter
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons Vanilla
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Optional:
1 cup walnuts or pecans
Step one:
Preheat the oven to 300°. Take out cake pans either one long cake pan or two round cake pans. Spray the inside of pans (the bottom and the sides) with an olive oil spray or rub them with soft butter or Crisco. Place 2 tablespoons of flour in each pan and move the pan from side to side until the flour covers the base of the pan and the sides of the pan. Dump the excess flour into the kitchen sink. This process will ensure that the brownies are able to come out of the pan without sticking or breaking.
Step two:
Place the chocolate chips and the butter in a small pan or in a metal mixing bowl. Fill a larger pan with 1 1/2 inches of water and place it on the stove on medium heat. Place the metal mixing bowl or the small pan with the chocolate chips and butter in the larger pan on the stove; as the water in the pan begins to heat it will cause the chocolate chips and the butter to melt. Stir the butter and chocolate chips as they melt. Once they have melted completely and turned into a smooth chocolate mixture take the bowl out of the pan and place it on a cool stove burner. Allow the chocolate to sit for approximately ten minutes while you mix the rest of the brownie batter.
Step three:
Mix the butter and the eggs in an electric bowl style mixer until they are creamy and smooth. Add the sugar, vanilla, salt and the flour. Mix them until they are smooth and creamy and well blended. Add the cooled chocolate mixture to the batter while the mixer is off. Add one cup of walnuts or pecans at this time as well. Turn the mixer on low and slowly mix the ingredients together until they are smooth.
Step four:
Pour the ingredients evenly into the two pans or pour the entire amount into the one pan. If you are using two pans placed them both on the same rack in the oven; if you are using one pan place it on the top rack in the oven. Set the timer for 30 minutes.
Step Five:
When the timer goes off remove the brownies from the oven and place them on top of the stove to cool. Set the timer for 20 minutes. After the timer goes off and the brownies are cooled place them on a cooling rack and allow them to cool for another 15 minutes before cutting them and placing them in containers or giving them to guests.
You can expect consistent and delicious brownies when you follow these steps. You can add specialties to the brownies if you would like: walnuts, marshmallows, etc. Creativity is limitless when the basic recipe is intact.
