Valentine’s Day is the most romantic holiday and nothing shows how much you care like a homemade gift. Your sweetie will appreciate the time and effort put into this project. Making gifts yourself is much better than selecting a random item from a store shelf. Whether you have been together for years or are in a new relationship, these gift ideas will be perfect.
Step 1: Create a card that describes all the reasons you love your sweetheart. Use a stamp, stickers, or markers to decorate a library card pocket, which you can find at a school supply store. Attach this pocket to the inside cover of a meaningful book or a journal. Insert the card into the pocket and wrap the gift in heart-themed paper.
Step 2: Few things are better on this holiday than sweets. Make sugar cookies, adding food coloring to create pink-tinted batter. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create the shapes. After baking and cooling the cookies, attach sugar hearts with a frosting pen or make the cookies sparkle with a thin coating of luster dust, which as available in the cake decorating aisle of a craft store. Package each cookie in an individual cellophane bag, adding a cardstock backing inside the bag and a thin strip of cardstock over top of the bag, adorned with a bow.
Step 3: Make a gift basket for a romantic evening. Include champagne, chocolates, and a romantic movie DVD. If you have a fireplace, add some skewers and marshmallows and spend time roasting the treats in front of the fire.
Step 4: Customize a candy bag instead of using a plain plastic bag. Get a muslin bag and place a piece of cardstock inside it. Stamp the front of the bag with a romantic image. Remove the cardstock, allow the bag to dry, and fill it with your sweetie’s favorite candies. If you plan to pop the question, put the ring inside the bag like the toy surprise in a box of Cracker Jack.
