Some treats are made during all times of year because they are a family favorite. Though apple crops are more plentiful during the fall in many regions, apple cobbler is one of the desserts that a family makes all year long. Making apple cobbler is easy and will get you compliments all around the table! Following is a recipe that will serve six people, but can be expanded as necessary to feed more.
You will need:
- 3 large granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 8×8 inch baking dish
- Cooking spray
- Oven
- Caramel sauce, Whipped cream, and Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Step 2: Spray the bottom and sides of the baking dish with cooking spray, coating the entire surface
Step 3: Place the apples into the bottom of the baking dish
Step 4: Mix together sugar, flour, egg, and cinnamon until it takes on the appearance of coarse cornmeal
Step 5: Sprinkle this mixture over the apples in the dish
Step 6: Pour the melted butter over the ingredients in the baking dish
Step 7: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
Step 7: Remove the baking dish from the oven and allow the cobbler to cool until it is just warm to the touch
Step 8: Cut individual portions and serve with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream, if desired.
Step 9: Refrigerate unused portions for up to several days
