Not all pets are content with run of the mill gifts. Some dogs, especially small ones, will not play with toys or chew on regular bones. Cats may shun a toy mouse purchased from the pet store. Even birds can be picky and some loudly voice their disdain for a new toy. Here are some creative gifts for pets that are very particular.

Idea 1: If you have a small dog that is intimidated by large rawhide bones, look for miniature versions. Treat-sized bones with soft centers should be well-received. Thin rawhide sticks are also suitable because the pooch can wrap its paws around the chew toy.

Idea 2: When cats have no interest in toys, add some catnip to them. A container of catnip spray sells for about $3 and can be used on toys, scratchers, and even the kitty condo. Cats will take more interest in playthings treated with this natural herb.

Idea 3: A talking treat ball allows dog owners to interact with their pooches during playtime. Dog treats are stored inside the ball and the dog must figure out how to remove them. The pet owner can record a message that plays whenever the ball is bumped. Dogs receive encouragement from their owners while hard at work performing treat removal.
