Siding on a home can be hard to clean due to the fact that weather and even the heights of the siding can be trouble. There are very simple ways to clean house siding that take ample time but little effort. Here are a few tips on how to clean house siding.
You will need:
- Water hose
- High powered pressure trigger for water hose
- Extending handle broom
- Dish washing detergent
- Large bucket or outside tub area
- High pressure power washer
Step 1: Fill the large bucket or outside tub area with water and about one quarter of a bottle of dish washing liquid. Use the water hose to wet the entire are you will be working on, which should be closest to the roof of the home using the high powered pressure trigger on the hose.
Step 2: Dip the extending handle broom into the bucket or tub area of water and soap, and briskly scrub the siding working from one side to the other, in short fast strokes. It is best to work in areas no bigger than 5 foot by 5 foot to ensure all of the siding is cleaned evenly.
Step 3: Rinse the area you worked on thoroughly with the water hose and allow this to dry for 10 minutes to see if there are any areas that need additional scrubbing. This can be repeated as many times as necessary to get rid of the black areas and grime on the outer portions of your house siding.
Step 4: Work your way down the house in 5 foot by 5 foot sections. Start on one side of the home and then work your way around the home in the same fashion. This is time consuming, but is the best answer to cleaning siding other than hiring a professional cleaner with a high pressure power washer to do the job for you. If you wish to rent a high pressure power washer from a local business, this is a much faster way of completely cleaning the siding, but is much more costly. Using the high pressure power washer, simply start at the roof of the home and work from side to side while spraying the stream of high powered water at the dirty areas. This will knock off any dirt from the siding. Completely rinse one side in small sections, and repeat across all siding on the home.
